LAKEPORT ? A Saturday hit-and-run left a 14-year-old Nice boy with minor injuries and led to the arrest of Upper Lake resident Cherry Keller, 52, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The teen was riding his bicycle south on Lakeshore Boulevard just south of Sayre Avenue at approximately 7:45 p.m. when the accident happened, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer Steven Tanguay. He said preliminary reports indicated Keller, headed south in her 1990 Oldsmobile 88 Royale, “clipped” the bicyclist.

The teen fell to the ground and sustained minor injuries, according to Tanguay. The bike was reported to have sustained moderate damage.

CHP officer Josh Dye is investigating the incident. Tanguay said Keller had driven away south while CHP officer Josh Dye was on his way to the scene. Dye arrested her at an apartment complex where he spotted her car, which matched descriptions given by witnesses.

“When he was talking to her about the collision, he noticed signs of possible intoxication,” Tanguay said.

Keller was arrested on felony charges of hit-and-run causing injury and DUI causing injury.
