In regards to the recent letter “Turkey Promenade,” I sincerely hope that you are a vegan! If you are, I have no beef with you (pun intended) because that is a personal choice and you are entitled to it. What drives me crazy are the people who judge me and all other hunters for taking game God has put here for our nourishment, then head down to Safeway and buy their beef, pork, turkey, etc.

Mass produced cattle and poultry have so many steroids and other garbage pumped into them on a daily basis it”s disgusting! Venison, elk, antelope and turkey are all naturally low in fat and live a free life until taken by a hunter. Whereas commercially raised animals share a pen with hundreds of other animals all living in their own feces. You have no control over what they are fed or how they are treated. Eating wild game is healthier than any meat you buy at a store, by far, and also more humane to the animals.

Every tag/license costs money. That money helps to protect wildlife. Organizations like Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited and California Mule Deer, just to name a few, spend millions of dollars every year to protect wilderness areas from being developed.

Stop judging us for what we enjoy. It”s healthy, fun and it tastes great!
