LAKEPORT — The 28th annual Spring Dance Festival is right around the corner. The Lake County Arts Council is once again putting on the premier dance event of Lake County”s entertainment year.
The theme of this years” extravaganza is “Rhythm of Dance,” and it is the work of the stellar cast of local choreographers who work with the arts council. They include: Antoinette Goetz, Sheila LaVine, Michelle John-Smith from Lakeport and Bernadette Alverio, and Jamie Zimmerman Brasico from Middletown. Also represented will be the work of several developing choreographers.
The program will feature more than 130 Lake County dancers who will present two hours of dance compositions topped off with a grand finale featuring the entire cast. Every year there many kinds of dance to enjoy ? delicate ballet and robust clogging; nostalgic rhythms of Broadway; ballroom dancing; tap and hip-hop; belly-dancing and hula.
Once again this year there will be limited reserved seating in the first three rows. Parent passes will also be available from dance teachers and choreographers for those who will be accompanying a child to multiple performances.
There will be two performances: 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the Marge Alakszay Center, 350 Lange St. in Lakeport. Advance ticket prices are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and students, and $6 for children younger than 12. Tickets purchased at the door will be $1 more. Reserved tickets are $15, available only at the arts council office, 325 N. Main Street, Lakeport, in person or by mail. Doors will open one half hour before each performance.
For greater convenience, non-reserved tickets will be available at a variety of outlets around the county in addition to the LCAC office: Catfish Books in Willow Tree Plaza on 11th Street in Lakeport and Wild About Books on Olympic Drive in Clearlake.
