GEYSERVILLE — With pitcher Kristen Garcia getting the day off, the Lower Lake Trojans took the opportunity to play many of their younger players in a 20-4 non-league softball loss to the Geyserville Bronchos on Wednesday in Geyserville.

“It was a non-league game, so it was a good opportunity to get some girls some playing time,” Lower Lake coach Tim Sherrell said.

Lower Lake (5-12) trailed 3-0 after one inning but took a 4-3 lead in the top of the second. Geyserville pushed ahead to stay with six runs in the bottom of the inning.

The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Rachel Boyd drew the start for Lower Lake and went the distance, striking out one and walking seven.

“We didn”t make many plays behind her,” Sherrell said. “A lot of those runs were unearned.”

Darlena White went 3-for-3 for Lower Lake. Mirella Valencia, Ashley Willard and Jessica Wilson added a hit and a RBI apiece.

Lower Lake travels to Lakeport on Friday to play Clear Lake at 4 p.m.
