WILLITS — Making his first appearance of the season on the mound, Middletown”s Andre Fernandez picked up the victory as the Mustangs beat the Willits Wolverines 8-6 in a North Central League I North junior varsity baseball game on Monday in Willits.
Fernandez combined with Andy Garcia, who picked up the save, on a five-hitter. Fernandez helped himself by going 3-for-5 with a RBI. Connor Chick went 3-for-3 with a RBI and scored twice as the Mustangs improved to 4-2 in league and 13- 4 overall.
Middletown leadoff hitter Dustin Rudiger walked in all five of his plate appearances. He also stole two bases and scored twice.
