I have been trying to understand payments for Social Security disability. In 2007 I received $876 per month and did not have to pay a co-payment on prescriptions. In 2008 I received $890 per month and started paying $3 and $1 for prescriptions. At the beginning of 2009 I started receiving $917 and prescriptions went up to $3.20 and $1.10. Now, on May 1 my check is back to $890 and prescriptions are the same.

So, here we are in 2009 getting a total income of $890, paying a co-payment for prescriptions and receiving less money. But, the cost of living keeps going up. Groceries, prescriptions and many other items are costing more and our income is going down.

It is pretty bad that the United States can help all these foreign countries by sending billions of dollars of aid, but can”t take care of its own people, who barely get by.

So, where did we get a cost of living increase?
