LAKEPORT — Last Thursday night, the Little Theatre at the Lake County Fairgrounds rocked! Yes, “The Pajama Game” is a rock and roll classic musical. But the audience showed up in jammies and bunny slippers for the grand opening! Who knew? It was an opening night “pajama party” with all the trimmings and the audience was ready to have fun and watch a great show. They got what they came for.
Lake County Theatre Company (LCTC) and Mendocino College have teamed up again to produce a classic romantic musical comedy that takes place in a pajama factory of all places! True to form, the hero and heroine fall in love but in spite of wonderful music and a supporting cast of crazy characters, something comes between them: a strike! Throw in a cranky boss, a knife throwing boy friend and “a sexy dame who loves to dance” and you”ve got the “The Pajama Game.”
Now, not every night is an opening night with a pajama party, but this rocking musical continues this weekend with five more performances: 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Come to the Little Theatre at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport and sing along with such songs as “Hey There,” “Steam Heat” and “Hernando”s Hideaway.” As with most musicals in Lake County, sell outs are possible so immediate ticket purchase is a real good idea! Plus, it”ll be cool inside.
