SANTA ROSA — Anisa Green is heading to the Meet of Champions ? times two ? after crushing the field in both the long and triple jumps Saturday during the North Coast Section Class A Championships at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa.
The Clear Lake High School senior won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 1 inch. The next best mark was 16-1 by Jazmyne Reid of College Prep. Green”s winning margin was even more pronounced in the triple jump, where she cleared 36 feet, ? inch. Runner-up Kelsey Welton of Middletown was next at 34-3.
Green also finished fifth in the 100 meters in 13.1 seconds. The top three finishers in all events automatically qualify for this Saturday”s Meet of Champions (MOC) at Edwards Stadium on the U.C. Berkeley campus.
Green wasn”t the only Lake County winner Saturday. Her teammate, Seth Glazier, also qualified for the MOC in two events, winning the boys” 100 (11.22) and taking third in the 200 (23.23).
In fact, two Lake County athletes — Glazier and Middletown”s Jake Clouse (23.13) — qualified for the MOC in the 200. Clouse came in second behind winner Jordan Thomas (22.71) of Branson School of Ross.
Clouse was one of three Middletown boys to score a top-three finish on Saturday. Myles Moffat came in third in the triple jump (41-4) and Nick Valdovinos was third in the discus (131-10).
Middletown”s 4×100 relay team also came in third at 45.53.
Middletown”s boys were fourth in team scoring behind champion Fort Bragg, Justin-Siena (Napa) and University (San Francisco).
The top four finishers in each event at the MOC move on to the CIF State Championships June 5-6 in Clovis.
