Congratulations to Lowell Grant on his recent well-written commentary regarding the true meaning and importance of Memorial Day. I share this sentiment.
Yet I would like to comment on a few of Mr. Grant”s assertions.
Most of us working people do consider paying taxes an important part of our American system. But, as indicated recently by California voters, the majority of us feel that taxes are too high and we are fed up with government”s reckless spend and tax habits.
Most of us also regret that this president has inherited two wars and an enormous deficit. Although I would like to remind all that both the U.S. Congress and the UN voted for the use of force in 2002.
It is great that Mr. Grant”s new leader makes him and so many others feel good.
I am, however, finding some difficulty in feeling as good about the quadrupling of the U.S. deficit in a mere five months, along with the recent resumption of nuclear weapons programs in both North Korea and Iran.
So, how is that “hope” and “change” working out for you?
