How would we feel as a people if Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, or so many other countries pushed their values, customs and form of government on us, like the many different ways our government does on those that differ from our own? Should not the people of all world countries decide these things in the country they live in? Yes, some changes to the way people may wish their country to change, may involve violence, as did our own civil war, but, it will be of their choosing, and not another outside government or war profiteers” plans to bring such change for their own benefits.
I am not a historian by any means, but, from what I have read over the years, its seems that from before Roman times, the most powerful countries have fallen, Rome, Spain, Germany and England, due to spending too great a percentage of their taxpayers” funds on their military complex. Are we heading for such a fall, by spending the greatest amount of our taxpayers” funds on our own military-industrial complex, and not enough on our health care, education system and the general well being of our overall population?
As we, as a people, brace ourselves for a painful downturn in our economy and lifestyles, would not the greatest help in lowering our indebtedness to China be lowering the expense of having a military that far exceeds the country”s needs?
