CLEARLAKE ? A two vehicle collision rerouted traffic on Lakeshore Drive for about an hour Monday. The head-on collision resulted in complaints of pain by all parties involved.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:32 p.m. on Lakeshore Drive in front of One Stop Automotive. Preliminary investigation indicates that a male driver was traveling west on Lakeshore Drive in a white Toyota Tacoma pickup while another male driver was traveling east in a Saturn sedan. The driver of the Toyota allowed his vehicle to cross the double yellow line where it struck the Saturn head-on.
“The truck veered over to the left; crossed the double lines and struck the Saturn head-on. They almost bounced into me,” Jack Troyer, who was traveling behind the Saturn and witnessed the collision, said. Troyer added that traffic was traveling at about 27 miles per hour at the time of the collision.
Lake County Fire Protection District (LCFPD) responded to the scene where medics stabilized the occupants of the Saturn including the driver and a female passenger. Both were transported for reported complaints of pain. North Shore Fire Protection District also responded with an ambulance unit because other LCFPD medic units were responding to other calls, Battalion Chief George Murch said.
The driver of the Toyota also reported complaints of pain; however he was not transported via ambulance for medical attention.
According to Clearlake Police Officer Carl Miller alcohol does not appear to have been involved in the incident. Investigation is ongoing.
