CLEARLAKE ? A man was flown via REACH air ambulance Saturday following a motorcycle accident at Olympic and Lakeshore drives in Clearlake. The male victim, approximately 41 years old, was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for possible head trauma.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:44 a.m. Upon arrival, Lake County Fire Protection District (LCFPD) medics located the victim about five feet away from his motorcycle. According to Battalion Chief George Murch, it appeared that the motorcycle had been traveling west on Olympic Drive and for unknown reasons, the driver proceeded through the eastbound lane and collided with a power pole located near the corner of Lakeshore Drive. Impact reportedly caused the motorcycle rider”s helmet to come off.

“The impact did take his helmet off,” Murch said. “He hit pretty hard from what the bystanders at the scene said.”

LCFPD personnel transported the victim to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake where he was later flown via REACH to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
