I wouldn”t mind a vehicle surcharge to help fund the state parks, if I could have the assurance that the funds would be used solely for the intended purpose, and that the $15 amount that it starts with stays that way. The problem is, I don”t trust the government. Whatever it gets, it never seems enough. Once the people are convinced to agree to such a “reasonable” amount to pay for unlimited use of the state parks, suddenly the government will decide that this is no longer enough and the surcharge will need to be raised on and on each year. How about this ? there are so many needs in our state, why not convince the people to convert these funds to something else? And do you realize the surcharge is for every vehicle you own? Isn”t one fee per family enough?

My opinion is you should be very careful before you support the idea of our government having more power to levy surcharges, no matter how reasonable they seem at the time.
