GREATER KELSEYVILLE — In 1994 Brad Arnold, was a man wearing three hats, as he drummed his way to the front of the stage as vocalist and lyricist for the rock band “3 Doors Down.” Arnold is joined by guitarist Matt Roberts, guitarist Chris Henderson and bassist Todd Harrell. The childhood friends from Escatawpa, Mississippi are appearing at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa on the Fourth.
3 Doors Down”s first album, “The Better Life,” was released in 2000 and became the 11th best-selling album of the year, selling more than 3 million copies. It is now certified six-times platinum. “Kryptonite,” “Loser,” “Be Like That,” and “Duck and Run” are the runaway hits on the album.
Arnold recorded the vocal and drum parts. During the tour the band adds a drummer so Arnold can perform as frontman.
Fast forward eight years and a few hugely successful albums and 3 Doors Down releases its self-titled fourth album, debuting No.1 on the Billboard 200, selling 154,000 copies in its first week. It is the band”s second consecutive No.1 album. All four albums have reached the top 10 status.
The band developed the charity The Better Life Foundation (TBLF) in 2003 with the goal of giving children better lives. Since its inception TBLF supported numerous charities nationwide and provided aid to the Gulf Coast region of Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina. Much like the members of the Lake County band, the Lost Boys, Arnold was writing some of the bands early hits at age 15.
