CLEARLAKE ? After being detained and positively identified by a witness, Dustin Matthew Kirk, 18, of Clearlake was arrested on several charges including vehicle theft. A second subject, identified as a 16-year-old male was also arrested in relation to the case.
According to Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann, Kirk and the juvenile were spotted on Lakeshore Drive in the stolen 1988 Toyota Camry on Tuesday by the vehicle owner”s son. The vehicle was reportedly ditched across the street from Notts Liquors where the subjects allegedly left it. Kirk was located nearby and detained by officers. Officers reportedly found Kirk to be in possession of skeleton keys that were allegedly used to start the vehicle. Kirk was positively identified by the witness as the passenger in the vehicle and was taken into custody. According to Lt. Hermann, Kirk was out on bail for other crimes at the time of his arrest. Search of the vehicle resulted in the location of stolen stereos, a stolen computer monitor and drug paraphernalia.
Kirk was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools and for committing a felony while out on bail. He was booked into Lake County Jail.
The second subject was located Wednesday morning at which time he was arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall.
