LAKE COUNTY ? California Highway Patrol (CHP) made a traffic stop at approximately 7:50 a.m. resulting in the discovery of an onslaught of fireworks that Joe Huggins, Battalion Chief of Kelseyville Fire Protection District described as “highly illegal.”
“These are for use by licensed pyrotechnics only. Some of them I don”t believe are even legal in the state of California,” Huggins said. He added that he has seen these types of fireworks previously, but this is an abnormal amount.
Bob Anthony Marino, 48, of Campbell was booked into Lake County Jail with charges including: possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, transport of a controlled substance, possession of illegal explosives, sale/use of unclassed fireworks and possession of fireworks without a permit.
Marino was accompanied by Rochelle Monique Eblen, 32, of San Jose who was booked into the Lake County Jail on charges of possession of controlled substance paraphenalia, possession of a controlled substance, false identification, false impersonation of another and a bench warrant.
CHP seized the fireworks and contacted the Kelseyville Fire Protection District.
“On Monday, a pyrotechnic and bomb specialist will pick the fireworks up and take them to the state Fire Marshal”s office in Sacramento,” Huggins said. He said the fireworks are currently locked in a safe.
Huggins said that these fireworks are neither safe nor sane and could do serious damage if ignited.
