PETALUMA — Windy conditions didn”t seem to bother members of the Lake County Channel Cats swim team last weekend at the Westside Aquaduck meet in Petaluma.

Six Channel Cats were among 300-plus swimmers representing 18 North Bay clubs.

Allison Hanson, 13, posted firsts in the 50-meter freestyle, 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly, added seconds in the 100 frestyle and 100 butterfly, and thirds in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle.

Despite recently moved up an age division (13-14), Hanson wasted no time registering her first A-time standard in the 50 freestyle.

Matteo Merodio 15, improved upon his A-times in the 50 and 100 freestyles, missing Junior Olympic designation by .06 seconds in the 50.

Sarah Merodio, 12, posted her fourth A-time in the 100 freestyle. In addition, she earned seconds in the 50 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and 100 freestyle as well as a third in the 50 backstroke and a fifth in the 200 individual medley.

Charlie Adams, 8, swam an A-time for his quick pace in the 50 backstroke, which he won. He posted other firsts in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 50 breaststroke in the boys” 8-and-under division. He also placed third in the boys” 10-and-under 100 backstroke and sixth in the 100 breaststroke.

Lauren Rudnick, 9, tackled eight events, posting thirds in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and the 200 individual medley.

Nikki Hanson, 9, also competed and placed as high as ninth.
