CLEAR LAKE RIVIERA ? Kelseyville Fire Protection District and a full fire suppression arsenal were summoned to West Ridge Drive at the bottom of Riviera Heights on Soda Bay Road just before midnight Thursday. A single-story structure was lost in a blaze that burned for about an hour.

Lake County Sheriff was the first to arrive on scene and advised the structure was fully involved. Additional units including those from CalFire were immediately dispatched following the arrival of the first fire unit.

According to Kelseyville Fire Protection District (KFPD) Battalion Chief Joe Huggins said the biggest concern in suppressing the fire was exposure to neighboring homes. Firefighters managed to limit the fire to the single structure and no other homes were reported lost or damaged in incident. Huggins said there was minimal threat to the wildland area near the home; however there was an immediate threat to the State Responsibility Area (SRA), which is why CalFire was requested for response.

CalFire crews established a fire break about 100 feet into the vegetated area and successfully prevented the blaze from escalating into a wildland fire.

KFPD responded with three engines and a battalion chief. Lakeport Fire Protection District assisted with one engine and CalFire responded with three engines and a Konocti Conservation crew, which assisted with mop up.

The fire was reported contained at 1:08 a.m. and mop up efforts continue throughout the night with the last unit in quarters at about 4:30 a.m.
