CLEARLAKE OAKS ? The victim of an alleged stabbing incident that occurred in Clearlake Oaks on Thursday was recently identified by Lake County Sheriff”s Department as Michael Wayne Schnell, 53, of Clearlake Oaks.
Schnell reportedly suffered a seven inch laceration to his right forearm in the incident.
According to Captain Rob Howe, Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO), Schnell was installing a swamp cooler at a friend”s house when an unknown suspect approached. The suspect reportedly began shouting at them and Schnell engaged in a brief argument with the suspect, who then allegedly produced a knife and slashed Schnell”s right forearm.
Following the conflict the suspect reportedly left the scene. Deputies obtained a description and began checking the area but did not locate the suspect.
The incident was reported at 10:03 p.m. Thursday at a residence located on Foothill Drive. Upon arrival deputies contacted Schnell and determined he had a seven inch laceration to his right forearm.
He was reportedly bleeding profusely and appeared to be losing consciousness.
Medic units staged nearby and were cleared for entry at 10:15 p.m. After determining that the local hospital could not handle the injury, aerial transport was requested.
REACH 1 arrived at the landing zone (LZ), which was established at the Clearlake Oaks Boat Ramp at 10:53 p.m. REACH 1 cleared the LZ at 11:08 p.m. en route to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital were Schnell was treated for the injury to his forearm.
