Students entering fourth or fifth grades this fall are invited to a theater games workshop to be held on Wednesday, July 29 at the Kelseyville Elementary School located on Konocti Road. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room. The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon. There is no charge for the workshop and registration will be limited to the first 20 students. The Lake County Sheriff”s Activity League (LCSAL) offers programs for local youth when volunteers are available. This workshop will be led by high school theater students and supervised by LCSAL Director, Dave Borjon. LCSAL welcomes volunteers who want to coach a sport or teach a craft or skill to local youth. Volunteer leaders determine the schedule, the duration of the program and the number and age of students who can participate. The Junior Giants program is currently under way and boxing will resume in the fall. For more information contact Dave Borjon at 279-1050.

Big changes to textile exhibit at fairgrounds

Calling all textile artists! There will be a big change in the “Clothing and Textiles” exhibit at the Lake County Fair in 2009. All textile-related entries will be displayed in a “home of their own,” the theater building that was once the “Home Arts” building many years ago.

In addition, there are some substantial cash awards for the winners. Be sure to catch the 2009 premium book for more information about these changes.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with this undertaking is welcome. Clothing and textile enthusiasts themselves are taking responsibility for handling all exhibits (check-in and pick-up, display, “white glove” duty, etc.).

Kerrie Hershey and Jane Alameda have agreed to coordinate all these efforts but they will need lots of helpers. Please volunteer to assist with this effort. Call either Kerrie Hershey (at Kerrie”s Quilting in Lakeport), 263-8555, or Jane Alameda at 263-3831.
