Residents of Olympic Village apartment complex were evacuated around 3:25 p.m. Wednesday after a suspicious device was discovered in an upstairs vacant apartment by cleaning personnel. Bomb squad specialists were called in to identify and retrieve the device, which according to Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann appeared to be a hand grenade that had been altered. It was detonated safely by Napa County Bomb Squad at approximately 8:05 p.m.
