CLEARLAKE ? A man was arrested at Adagio Apartments in Clearlake early Monday after allegedly brandishing a weapon and threatening to shoot his neighbor. Ivan Montalvo Vargas, 22, was booked on charges related to the incident as well as an outstanding warrant.

According to Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann, Vargas brandished a black semi-automatic handgun at his neighbor twice for unknown reasons. “During the first offense, Vargas removed the firearm from his waistband and told the victim that he was going to shoot him,” Lt. Hermann said. “During the second offense, Vargas made the statement ?I could shoot you” while pointing the weapon at the victim.”

Lt. Hermann said both incidents happened within few minutes of each other as the victim, identified as a 23-year-old male, was walking back and forth from his apartment at the Adagio complex. The victim allegedly became scared for his safety and called the police.

Upon officer arrival, Vargas was contacted and arrested for the offense. Search of his person, apartment and surround areas was conducted; however the firearm was not located.

Vargas was arrested at 12:38 a.m. Monday and transported to Lake County Jail where he was booked for exhibiting a firearm, making criminal threats and on an outstanding warrant for domestic violence.
