Kelsey Welton of Middletown High School is already on her way and Mike Duman of Kelseyville High and Kaila Sterbank of Clear Lake High will soon embark on the next stage of their lives, college.
Welton left for Long Beach State on Wednesday — immediately after the Athlete of the Year picture shoot concluded at Indian Beach Resort in Clearlake Oaks — while Duman (Solano College) and Sterbank (Sonoma State) still have a few weeks to go before the fall semester gets under way.
The three Lake County Record-Bee Athletes of the Year leave behind a wake of success at their respective high schools, where they”ll no doubt be missed in the upcoming sports season. But that”s just the way it is.
The Record-Bee would like to thank owners Ken Taddie and Tony and Isabelle Benevento of Indian Beach for making it possible to hold this year”s picture shoot at the resort. The Athletes of the Year and Record-Bee staff were allowed complete access to the resort during the busy summer season.
The year-round resort offers lodging and a wide range of recreational activities. Taddie and the Beneventos are also exceptional hosts.
