I understand that our congressman, Mike Thompson, is one of the Blue Dog Democrats, the people who are obstructing passage of the landmark health care legislation. Their reasoning being that the program has to be paid for. It supposedly will cost in the neighborhood of a trillion dollars. This is the amount that we will have spent in Iraq. A war no one wanted except a select few.
I suggest everyone call Rep. Thompson or e-mail him and let him know that a public option on health care reform is worth a trillion dollars.
The tax break Bush gave the rich expires next year and will help pay for it if the Democrats have the guts not to renew it. That”s very uncertain, given the Democratic leadership. Harry Reid is ineffectual, in the pocket of special interests such as insurance and the health care industry. The Democratic agenda is not going to go anywhere unless we get rid of some people. Call Rep. Thompson and ask him to vote for Obama”s plan.
