QUINCY — The Westshore Junior League All-Stars beat Feather River 9-6 on Wednesday to claim the sectional tournament at Feather River College in Quincy.
Westshore”s 13- and 14-year-olds won the district championship earlier in the month and now advance to the next round of competition, which gets under way Sunday in San Jose.
Winning pitcher Alex Castillo worked 6 1/3 innings in the win over Feather River, allowing two hits, striking out six and walking four.
Leading Westshore at the plate were Dustin Thaxton, who went 3-for-4; Braeden Saylees, who went 2-for-3; Stone Phillips, who went 2-for-4; and Matt Gatton, who went 1-for-4 with a double.
