The Dinius case is just another embarrassment to Lake County. Read Nine Green”s July 16 letter. I have heard too many of the same kind of stories coming out of Lake County law enforcement and the District Attorney”s Office, including comments from out-of-town attorneys. Even with several past investigations into Lake County law enforcement we got nothing. We got nothing because they got all their information from law enforcement and no one else. During one investigation I called the Department of Justice, explaining that I had information regarding their investigation into Lake County law enforcement and left my name and number. My call was never returned. They don”t want to know. We literally have no one to stop this from continuing to happen in Lake County.
Yes, the manslaughter charges were dismissed, but at what expense to Dinius, and after three years? They should dismiss the bodily harm portion of the driving under the influence too. The bodily harm was caused by the speedboat operator, period. This county is going to be in an uproar if Perdock isn”t prosecuted for this accident that turned into a crime due to the audacity of their arrogant thinking that they could just put the blame on Dinius. There”s a reason wrongful accusation charges have been brought against Hopkins. Will justice be done and result in some form of disciplinary action? We know they don”t fire government employees! The courts have no budget; they get all the monies they want with no questions asked. The taxpayers pay and pay and it adds up to an unbelievable amount of money. No one is cleaning house and the embarrassment continues.
My only inspiration is that the judge is taking this case in a different direction and for good reasons.
