LAKE COUNTY ? An alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman occurred late Saturday night or just after midnight on Sunday morning.
The woman was attending a show at the Lake County Fairgrounds on Martin Street in Lakeport, according to Lt. Brad Rasmussen of the Lakeport Police Department.
The woman had a friend contact police. The victim told police that she was assaulted and raped as a result of denying sex to a man she knew briefly and had met at the event. The man is not known to be associated with the fairgrounds. Capt. James Bauman of Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) confirmed that two alleged rapes were reported to the LCSO on the weekend.
Bauman said none of the alleged rapes appear to be related. LCSO are investigating cases from Kelseyville and Middletown. The rape cases are currently under investigation.
