LOWER LAKE — Lake CountyTheatre Company (LCTC) enjoyed its annual summer membership party (dinner, karioki, planning, etc.) in June at the Keys Club in Clear Lake Oaks and a good time was had by all. If you weren”t there, we missed you.

But the meeting was not all fun and games … or maybe it was. What surfaced out of the membership was one fact. Lake County wants to see more comedy, also known in some circles as “fun and games.”

So that”s just what LCTC plans on providing. This fall will introduce the first in a string of three uprorious comedies designed to bring the theater-going public to its knees with laughter. Scheduled to open Sept. 11 is a wacky show called “Southern Hospitality” followed by “A Tuna Christmas” in November and “The Foreigner” in March.

The first play, “Southern Hospitality,” is written by Jesse Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. If these names sound familiar, they should. They are the same guys who wrote “Christmas Belles,” the comedy hit from last season.

This sequel brings the four Futrelle sisters back to Fayro, Texas where they have decided to stimulate the economy (a noble and timely goal) by luring a salsa factory into Fayro to boost employment. Their big idea is to impress the owner of the factory with a “Fayro Days” festival. There are only two problems: They have no idea who the factory owner is or what she looks like and their plans for putting together “Fayro Days” run into more snags than a cheap pair of panty hose!

Rehearsals are already under way with a great cast of 13, many of whom you will recognize, but LCTC is also introducing some talented new folks who are destined to become real stars in this area. Don”t miss “Southern Hospitality” running Sept. 11,12 and 13 and 18,19 and 20 in Weaver Auditorium at the Historic Schoolhouse Museum in Lower Lake.

Tickets will go on sale in the middle of August at Catfish Books in Lakeport and the schoolhouse museum in Lower Lake. Save the dates and get ready to laugh. If you have questions or would like to join LCTC, feel free to call 279-2595.
