LAKE COUNTY — According to a public information release provided by Capt. James Bauman, public information officer for the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) on Saturday LCSO will be conducting a boating under the influence checkpoint on Clear Lake.

The operation will be conducted in cooperation with several other state and county allied law enforcement agencies.

The checkpoint is intended to reduce the number of alcohol- related accidents and injuries and enforce California boating laws on the lake.

Boaters entering the checkpoint will be stopped briefly and questioned and those operators showing signs of alcohol use or intoxication may be subjected to further testing.

Boaters determined to have a blood-alcohol content higher than .08 percent may be subject to arrest and incarceration as prescribed by law.

Members of the public with questions about the BUI checkpoint on August 8th may contact the Sheriff”s Marine Patrol Supervisor, Sergeant Dennis Ostini, at 279- 1591.
