Top Blue Dog Democrat (?) Mike Ross was bragging about how the Blue Dogs stopped single-payer by weakening the public option.
The original health care reform bill had a robust public option where hospitals and doctors were going to be paid the same rates as Medicare. Ross said that would have eventually lead to a single-payer system. The insurance companies could not compete with that. We leveled the playing field.
Now the government has to go out and negotiate rates with doctors and hospitals, thereby increasing the cost of health care reform.
This man is supposed to represent the people and not the insurance companies, as are all the people elected to office. Hello ? Mike Thompson.
Fiscal responsibility was not the reason the Blue Dogs weakened health care reform.
