It won”t be long before fall and winter arrives, along with those expensive propane tank fills. Perhaps your bill has been a little higher than it should be for quite awhile. Does your oven seem to be on all the time, and when you check it … it”s just the pilot light? Why is it so hot? You can”t bake in your oven because everything burns … bummer. Here”s why. You are probably living in a late model mobile home, modular home, or newer site built home. When the appliances come from the manufacturer they are set up for natural gas, not propane. The orifices need changed to accommodate the propane. How do you get the orifice changed? Well, there”s a law that says the company that hooks up your propane is supposed to change it. It seems they didn”t and still don”t do that. So knowing this, you call your propane provider and say, “Hey, come change my orifice that you so rudely and illegally neglected to do when you installed my propane.” Your propane provider will tell you to, “Go fly a kite.” saying they don”t have to, and hand you another whopping propane bill. Somehow our local propane dealers think they are above the law and can overcharge you and put you and your home at risk of fire. I also wonder how many appliances have been ruined as well. I believe it will take a judge to set things straight. Is there an attorney willing to take this on? Customer bills need to be credited, orifices need to be changed, investigations need to be done into causes of home fires, and damage to kitchen stoves/ovens … not to mention all the grief they caused us with their nasty pay up or else collection calls.
