I regularly go by Lower Lake Elementary School. There is a marquee in front of the school that lists coming events at the school (opening day, special dates to note, etc). One side of the marquee is in English (this is America!) and the other is in Spanish. I guess the English message is repeated in Spanish, but maybe not? Where is the marquee for those for whom English or Spanish isn”t their first language? (French, Swedish, etc., ? you get the point). By repeating everything in Spanish, or, any language, we are not encouraging folks to learn the language of the country that has opened their arms and services to them.
