The jury”s verdict is in and the system works. However, now we will see Chapter Two in this fiasco. Who will pay for Mr. Dinius” legal fees? Who will pay for the visiting judge? Who will pay the court costs and the jury fees? Who pays the witness fees, the expert”s fees? You guessed it, we the taxpayers will get stuck with the bill. I would hope that the county will make the total costs of this trial available to the press and the public. We, as taxpayers, deserve to know what the true costs of the trial were. The D. A. was quoted saying he felt he could not get a conviction against Perdock, and he may have been correct. I guess he felt he had to get a conviction against someone. Poor judgment or whatever, now we have to pay the price. Why is it that the taxpayers always seem to end up holding the bag?
