BUCKINGHAM — The 13th annual Pepsi Celebrity Skins Shootout won”t leave its fans with the difficult task of finding limited parking around Buckingham Golf and Country Club after all.

According to Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa General Manager Greg Bennett, a single 80-passenger bus will provide shuttle service between Konocti Harbor”s front parking lot and Buckingham from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, when the Shootout is contested.

Round-trip shuttle service has been provided at past Shootouts, but it was originally eliminated from this year”s Shootout budget because of cost-cutting measures related to the economic downturn of the past year.

Bennett said on Tuesday the bus will run back and forth between Konocti Harbor and Buckingham as needed and that should help ease parking concerns for the tournament, which features past NFL stars teamed up with amateur foursomes. The scramble format has an added twist this year as a $5,000 purse is up for grabs during a skins competition.

The Shootout tees off at 10 a.m. at Buckingham. There is only a single nine-hole flight this year, another concession to the economic times.

On a more positive note, admission is free into this year”s event and so are the autographs from such past NFL greats as Kenny Stabler, Daryle Lamonica, Roger Craig, Cliff Branch, Ben Davidson, Mike Wilson and John Taylor (see box at left).

Following the Shootout, the action shifts back to Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa for the awards dinner and charity auction followed by The Guess Who in concert.

Tickets for all Konocti Harbor shows, including Toby Keith in concert on Friday night, are available by calling 800-660-LAKE.
