CLEARLAKE? Clearlake Police Department responded to the address of a vacant residence on Lakeview Avenue Aug. 20 following a report of a suspicious device. Units arrived on scene at approximately 10 a.m. where they remained until approximately 5 p.m.
According to CPD Lt. Craig Clausen the device appeared to be a grenade. Napa County Bomb Squad responded and “rendered the device safe,” which is the term Lt. Clausen said the squad uses when a device is safely destroyed.
Lt. Clausen said a bunker was built and the bomb squad rendered the device safe at approximately 4:30 p.m.
