LAKE COUNTY — Toby Keith will play at Konocti Harbor & Spa on Friday as part of the Pepsi Celebrity Golf Shootout weekend.

Keith made a huge splash with an album that served as a response to Sept.11 titled “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American).” He was born Toby Keith Covel in Clinton, Okla., in 1961 and grew up on a farm near the outskirts of Oklahoma City.

The Guess Who will play at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa on Saturday night during the Pepsi Celebrity Golf Shootout weekend.

The Guess Who from Winnipeg, Canada, formed by singer/guitarist Chad Allan in 1960, was initially called “Al and the Silvertones” and after many name changes the band became the “Guess Who.” The original band consisted of Chad Allan (vocals/guitar), Bob Ashley (keyboards), Randy Bachman (guitars), Jim Kale (bass), and Garry Peterson (drums). All band members were born in Winnipeg. The lineup and sound have changed drastically over the years. The most recent line-up includes; Garry Peterson (drums, vocals), Jim Kale (bass, vocals), Leonard Shaw (keyboards, flute, vocals,) Carl Dixon (lead vocals, guitar) and Laurie MacKenzie (guitar, vocals).

The Guess Who may be best know for the 1970s hit album American Woman, the title track for which, “American Woman” with the B-side “No Sugar Tonight.” It was the group”s only No. 1 hit in the U.S. American Woman was later a hit again when covered by Lenny Kravitz.
