BUCKINGHAM — Daryle Lamonica has the lowest handicap in the field and Russ Francis the highest going into Saturday”s 13th annual Pepsi Celebrity Skins Shootout at Buckingham Golf and Country Club. Tee time is 10 a.m.

Lamonica and Francis will be joined by other former NFL greats such as Kenny Stabler, Roger Craig, John Taylor, Rod Martin, Cliff Branch, Ben Davidson, Eric Wright and Craig Morton, the only non-49er/Raider in the field.

Also competing are Art Thoms, Marv Hubbard, Ted Kwalick, Kenny King, Mike Wilson and John Paye.

Each NFL player is assigned a foursome of amateur golfers in the scramble tournament. This year”s competition features a new wrinkle as the teams will be competing for a skins purse of $5,000.

Lamonica, “The Mad Bomber” of Oakland Raiders fame, brings a 7-handicap into Saturday”s Shootout. The only other single-digit handicap golfers in the field are Eric Wright, the standout 49ers cornerback, at 8, and Marv Hubbard, a one-time Silver and Black running back great, at 9.

Ted Kwalick, who played with both Bay Area teams during his fine career, is a 10-handicapper and former 49ers wide receiver Mike Wilson, who played on each of San Francisco”s first four Super Bowl-championship teams, is an 11-handicapper. Next is Kenny “The Snake” Stabler at 12.

After Stabler, the handicaps start going up ? in a hurry. Martin is 15, Morton 16, Taylor and Thoms are both at 18, followed by Davidson at 19.

The rest of the field has Branch at 21, Paye at 30, Craig and King at 33, and Francis, the former 49ers tight end great, at 36.

Thoms, a defensive lineman who played on the Raiders” Super Bowl XV championship squad, led his team to victory at last year”s Shootout. Thoms also serves as auctioneer at the awards night and memorabilia auction Saturday night at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa.

In the event the skins portion of the Shootout ends in a tie at the end of regulation play, the NFL celebrities from each of the tied teams will compete in an accuracy drive contest to determine the winners.

Shootout weekend gets under way today at 5 p.m. with the pairings party at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa. That”s when each amateur foursome finds out which former NFL star it will play with during Saturday”s round at Buckingham. Toby Keith will perform in concert following the pairings party.
