We went to the Tea Party in Sacramento last week. As we walked through the hot sun and watched the crowd, we saw people just like us, concerned citizens wanting to be heard.

There were people of all party affiliations there, united in their concern about the many issues facing our nation today. There was nothing radical, nothing “orchestrated.”

We are all concerned about the spiraling deficit, the failing economy, rising unemployment and the continued health care reform debates. However, our politicians work hardest to divide us, the American taxpayers, into affiliations: Republican or Democrat; Conservative or Liberal.

It is to their advantage to keep the arguments fueled, keep us divided and take the focus away from them and the issues that really concern us.

We do not need to be defined by party affiliation or political view to make our voices heard. We need to remain united, as taxpayers. Keep your legislator in your sights; ask them to listen to you.
