LAKE COUNTY ? A woman accidentally shot her 15-year-old daughter with a rifle at about 6 p.m. Monday. The two were cleaning the mother”s bedroom in their house on Scotts Valley Road, the Lake County Sheriff”s Office stated.
The mother took the teen to Sutter Lakeside Hospital where she was treated for a “through and through” gunshot, according to a Lake County Sheriff”s Office press release.
The girl was in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon after having surgery.
Public Information Officer, James Bauman of the Lake County Sheriff”s Office would not release names in order to protect the identity of the juvenile.
The mother was moving three rifles into a closet when a .22 caliber rifle accidentally discharged, according to reports.
The woman called 9-1-1 as she was driving her daughter to the hospital, according to the press release.
Patrol units went to the woman”s house and Sutter Lakeside Hospital.
Deputies didn”t find anything at the house to indicate the shooting wasn”t accidental.
