LAKEPORT — Lakeshore United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Association members conducted the certification of the lanes at Lakeside Lanes on Saturday. The lanes passed the certification process and leagues will now be forming.

If you are interested in bowling on a certified league this winter you may contact Ray Kettle (Lakeside Lanes manager) at 263-4828 or Elsie Shaffer (Lakeshore Association Manager) at 995-3622 to get the phone number of the secretary whose league you wish to join.

Certification of a league will insure your monies are bonded and any outstanding accomplishment you do will be rewarded and documented. If you join a certified league you will need to purchase your USBC card the first time you bowl. USBC is the governing body for all certified bowling leagues in the United States. A subscription to U.S. Bowler magazine is included in your membership. This membership insures your ability to bowl in certified tournaments throughout the country.

There is a “no-tap” Harley Davidson league being formed on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. This league is not USBC certified and does not require a USBC card. Contact Kettle at 263-4828 for information.

The Lakeshore USBC Association nominating committee will be in attendance at the pre-scheduled Sunday meeting at 6 p.m. at Lakeside Lanes to gather names of those interested in holding office in the Lakeshore Association. Officer elections will be held at a later date.
