“The meet went off pretty well,” Upper Lake coach and meet director John Woods said. “It was not a great weekend to have a meet because of Labor Day and the (county) fair. We were missing about four runners who had prior commitments to animals at the fair.”
As for those runners who were able to compete, Woods said he saw some encouraging signs.
“Sophomore Jor-dan Austin ran very well in his first meet ever,” Woods said. “And I was very pleased with Marina Sharp. She has lots of talent.
“What I saw across the board was lots of heart from the Upper Lake team,” Woods added.
All of Lake County”s teams return to action Sept. 16 in the annual Lake County Meet at Middletown.
