LAKE COUNTY ? The Oasis Fire, which has been burning in the Cache Creek Wilderness Area in eastern Lake County since Monday evening has reached 1,400 acres. As of 8 a.m. Thursday, the fire was considered 75-percent contained. Full containment of the blaze is expected sometime today.
Three injuries have been reported in the incident. According to Northshore Fire Protection District (NFPD) Battalion Chief Pat Brown, those injured were transported to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake. “Northshore commitment is a medic rig staffed 24 hours at the Oasis Base. The medic rig is also transporting injuries out of the Clearlake Oaks Station,” Brown said. “Northshore also has one engine, out of Lucerne and a water tender, out of Clearlake Oaks working on the incident.”
The suppression effort is being lead by state responders as the fire is located primarily on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property which falls under the responsibility of CalFire”s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit. According to the CalFire incident report, additional cooperating agencies include Williams Fire Department, BLM, Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and California Highway Patrol.
More than 1,100 personnel are assigned to the incident. Cost-to-date totals $1.7 million. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
