LAKEPORT ? The Lakeport City Council moved forward with a few construction projects during a short meeting Tuesday.

Council members agreed to postpone a discussion and possible action on retiree health benefits until they have a full council on Oct. 20, as councilman Bob Rumfelt was absent.

The council accepted the engineering plans for the Pedestrian Improvement Project at 562 and 566 S. Main St. and staff will start the bidding process.

City engineer Scott Harter said he”s unsure if the project will be finished before winter although concrete work can be done during inclement weather.

“Opening up the road during winter is a little more dodgy,” Harter said.

Council members awarded the Martin and Forbes Street Sidewalk project to Epidendio Construction for almost $37,000. The council unanimously approved an application for funding and grant agreement for a neighborhood study on needs for improvements, such as sewage, streets and parks.

Council members voted 4-0 to terminate negotiations for the Avalon Housing Project Owner Participation Agreement as recommended by staff. Redevelopment manager Richard Knoll said the city hadn”t loaned any money yet.

Council members approved the consent agenda 3-0 with councilman Roy Parmentier abstaining, which included the Memorandum of Understanding with the Lakeport Employees Association.
