LAKE COUNTY ? A California Highway Patrol officer attempted to make a U-turn, lost control of his patrol car and rolled over, landing on the wheels Wednesday afternoon north of Diener Drive on Highway 29.

Officer Jeremy Jensen of Clear Lake CHP was treated and released the same day from Sutter Lakeside Hospital for pain, said Steve Tanguay, CHP public information officer. The officer is “recovering fine,” Tanguay said.

Jensen was driving south on Highway 29 and prepared to stop a vehicle by making a U-turn, so he drove into the right shoulder, Tanguay said. He then veered to the left, overcorrecting, and overturned, on his wheels. The car was “totaled.”

“It was pretty basic,” Tanguay said. “Luckily no one else was involved.”

Tanguay wasn”t sure what happened to the driver Jensen planned to stop, he said. He couldn”t say whether Jensen has returned to work.

CHP is still investigating the rollover, Tanguay said.

“With the amount of miles that we drive, it”s bound to happen,” Tanguay said.
