I am so mad right now, I”m ready to scream. There are issues out there going on right here in Lake County that, apparently, people are either looking the other way and not seeing this happening, or don”t care.

I”ve been reading little comments in the newspaper about the garbage issue. To the people who are against mandatory trash pickup; are you blind? Look around you! I am absolutely for it. I”ve been getting my garbage picked up now for at least 15 years. The fee to have your garbage picked up also includes picking up your recyclables and your yard waste. Maybe it will prompt people to clean their yards up and chop down those weeds that some people let grow up to the knees. This is absolutely appalling to look at.

When I visit other towns, that have ordinances, the yards are clean and manicured and no garbage laying around. Imagine that. It is so discouraging to come back here. It doesn”t cost anything to keep your yard cleaned up, and to have the garbage picked up every week costs so little. Many people waste more money on junk food and cigarettes than it costs to have the garbage picked up.

Another issue is animal control. I just found out that the rumors I heard are true. As of Nov. 1 no more animal control. I admit, I did not know there had been a meeting on this subject, or we would”ve been there to help fight for them. I am guilty of not always reading every article in the paper. I”ve always just assumed that they would always, hopefully, be around. We really need them here in Clearlake.

I am beyond angry at this situation. They”ve been out there risking their necks protecting us from mad dogs and trying to enforce rules and regulations. They are out there picking up injured animals off the roads, because there are still those people who just let their animals run the streets. Without animal control, these injured animals will be left to die, then the county will pick them up.

Do we really want to see this? I don”t. In my neighborhood, there are still dogs running loose. Don”t you people care at all. Now imagine, if there was no garbage pick up, and dead animals laying around, because too many people just don”t care. This town is not improving; it”s going downhill, quickly.

Summoning this all up, take pride in your own yard and your surrounding area and protect your pet by taking proper care of it, then this town could at least start looking like a better place to live. I would like to be proud of where I live, not be embarrassed by the trash in the surrounding areas, and oh, yes, the dead dogs and cats that you”ll see soon, because we will not have an animal control. Now that is sad. Think about this, please.
