WILLITS — After winning all three of their matches in pool play, the Kelseyville Knights dropped a 25-21, 25-10 decision to Sonoma County League power El Molino in the gold bracket playoff on Saturday at the Willits Volleyball Tournament.

“We were thrilled with how we played,” Kelseyville coach Donelle McCallister said of the El Molino match. “Both sides pounded the ball.”

Kelseyville beat St. Bernard 25-6, 25-11, South Forth 25-12, 25-11 and Fort Bragg 25-10, 27-26 to win its pool.

“All the girls stepped up and played well,” McCallister said. “Our passing game came out of nowhere and we did a much better job with our serve receive.”

Tournament leaders for the Knights were Chelsea DeJohn with 10 aces, Ashley Mueller with 12 kills and Ty Van Housen with four blocks. Passing leaders were Julie Van Buskirk and Kendra Schwegerl, according to McCallister.

Kelseyville plays Cloverdale in a North Central League I interlock match today in Cloverdale.
