WILLITS — Led by the hitting of Keirra Zarate and Casey Graham, the Kelseyville High School junior varsity volleyball team finished third in the silver bracket Saturday at the Healdsburg Tourn-ament.
“They did really well at the net,” Kelseyville coach Karen Facey said of middle hitter Graham and outside hitter Zarate.
Ashley Taylor”s def-ense from the back row was another plus for the Knights, according to Facey.
In pool play, Kelseyville beat Healdsburg No. 1 16-25, 25-12, 25-13 and then lost to the two teams that would go on to reach the championship match in the gold bracket, Ursuline and Middletown. Both teams needed three games to beat the Knights — Ursuline won 25-16, 17-25, 15-9 and Middletown won 28-26, 10-25, 15-11.
Ursuline beat Mid-dletown in the finals.
After pool play, Kelseyville advanced to the silver bracket. Justin-Siena beat the Knights 25-9, 25-18, but Kelseyville won its final match, knocking off St. Vincent 25-17, 25-15.
Kelseyville plays today in Cloverdale at 5 p.m.
