LAKEPORT ? Supervisor Rob Brown presented appreciation proclamations Tuesday to construction companies, the Konocti Arts Society, Kelseyville Lumber and the Kelseyville Business Association for their contributions to the Kelseyville Historical Monument.

The Lake County Board of Supervisors also honored Marr B. Olsen Inc. General & Concrete Contractors, Granite Construction Company and Denton & Sons Trucking.

“We”re just really glad we could bring the community together with art,” said Jeanne Landon-Myers, Konocti Art Society project co-chair.

Greig Olson, president of the Kelseyville Business Association, said he hopes to get the landscaping and finishing touches done by Saturday for the Kelseyville Pear Festival.

Board members considered a few construction and property projects as well as other issues in the Lake County Courthouse.

The board recommended the county attempt to sell the third watercraft washing stations.

Board members voted 4-1 to start the process to buy a block of lots in Middletown to create a town square. The property near the future county library and senior center would cost $500,000, less than the owner”s asking price and what he paid a few years ago.

“It will be a very inviting place to stop,” Supervisor Jim Comstock said.

Brown disagreed and voted no.

“I just have a problem with buying more and more land,” Brown said. “I appreciate it”s a central location. I just have a problem with buying more land.”

The board voted 4-1 to change the contract for Main Street improvements in Upper Lake to upgrade the standard gray sidewalks to colored and textured sidewalks to match the other end of the project.

Farrington dissented and said he would like to spread around redevelopment funds rather than spending so much on the Main Street Pavement Rehabilitation and Accessibility Improvements in Upper Lake.

Brown said since the funds are available, he supports the full project.

“If we”re gonna do it, we need to do it right,” Brown said.
