CLEARLAKE ?Two Clearlake men were arrested in connection to a stabbing that left one man lying dead on the side of the road early Tuesday morning. Shannon Lee Edmonds, 35, and Melvin Dale Norton, 34 were taken into custody on homicide charges.
According to Clearlake Police Chief Allan McClain at approximately 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the area of Old Highway 53 and Clement Drive for a possible assault. Upon arrival officers found a stabbing victim, identified as a white male adult in his 30s, lying off the side of the roadway. The victim was transported to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake via Lake County Fire Protection District ambulance where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Chief McClain said that the victim”s name will be released by the Lake County Coroner”s Office at the appropriate time.
According to McClain investigative leads developed by the first officers on scene and by detectives assigned to the case resulted in the arrests of Edmonds and Norton. “Detectives from the Clearlake Police Department along with investigators from the Lake County District”s Attorney”s Office are in the process of serving search warrants and collecting additional evidence,” Chief McClain stated.
