LOWER LAKE — It might be a Lake County sports first and with any luck it will be a Lake County sports last.

A scheduled Coastal Mountain Conference cross country meet on Wednesday involving host team Lower Lake and visiting schools Upper Lake and Cloverdale at Anderson Marsh State Park was canceled because the park is now closed Wednesdays due to the state”s budget crisis.

“I didn”t find out until this morning (Wednesday),” Lower Lake coach Andrew Carpenter said. “We tried to reschedule it for Friday, when the park is open, but Upper Lake and Cloverdale weren”t interested in coming here Friday.”

Prep cross country meets almost always take place on Wednesdays.

Anderson Marsh is also scheduled to host a CMC meet Nov. 4 with Lower Lake, Fort Bragg, Cloverdale and Santa Rosa Christian all attending.

“Hopefully we”ll be able to use Anderson Marsh, if not we”ll come up with an alternative course,” Carpenter said. “One way or another it will be a home meet for us.”
